Hey! So, let me tell you all about our amazing Cancun trip – it was pure magic! We kicked off on January 8th, leaving the beautiful vibes of Colombia after catching up with family. The journey involved a 3-hour flight. We flew with Avianca once again. Flight was fast and soon we were in Mexico!! Once we landed, Cancun welcomed us with open arms and the most incredible weather. I'm talking sunshine galore and the sweetest breezes. We got our luggage and headed for a taxi. In Cancun you'll find a lot of taxis, ubers, and shared vans. You will pay more when you book your own taxi, however you aren't stopping at every hotel and wasting time. We opted for our own taxi which did cost us around $40 US dollars. If you are wanting to explore Cancun and surrounding areas, you can always use a rental car service like Hertz. We have used them in the past on other trips, but didn't need a car for this particular 5-day trip.
So, let me share the lowdown on our stay at Moon Palace The Grand – it was seriously something else! Before I go into that, let me tell you that I searched online at some of the best all inclusive Mexico family vacations. I always check reviews before I book any trip. It's something that I've always done. You should too! I usually use Tripadvisor for reviews. Now back to the Moon Place. After that quick 15-minute taxi ride from the airport, we ended up in this haven of luxury. They welcomed us with a cool drink, a warm towel (which felt amazing), and even tossed in a carnation flower for the women – so sweet! The staff took our luggage while we went to check in.
Check-in was a breeze – none of that long, tedious process. We put our bracelets on, which acted as our keys to the room and were off. We were given a ride in an open trolley which was fun to ride in. There is a lot of walking , but luckily with the trolleys you get to where you need to fast! The Moon Palace Grand is very big. It has 1316 rooms! We were in building 90, not far from the kids waterpark. My son loved it, more on that later...
Once we got to our room in picture above, we were in awe. It was very spacious. We had two queen beds, a jacuzzi (yes, you heard that right), a large shower that could rival a spa, a double sink bathroom that was practically photo-ready, and this spacious patio with a chill eating spot – we were living the good life! They had awesome hair and body products from Chi! I was very happy about that. They also had 3 bathrobes to take home, an accessory kit, and a cute welcome beach bag on the bed.

The Pools
The Moon Palace The Grand in Cancun is seriously something else. It really is one of the top family resorts in Mexico. Let's talk about the pools. The pools are big! not just one, but loads of them. Each of them have swim up to a bars, and even a kids juice and mocktail station. You won't go thirsty! There is great poolside service at every pool, so if you are hungry grab a menu and relax by the pool with your meal. They have daily pool activities like aqua aerobics, a mechanical rocket, which my husband went on! Such fun, and a slippery obstacle course which my son loved. I just loved chilling in one of the large pools, there was even a huge heated pool that felt amazing.
The Spa And Gym
Then there's the beautiful AWE Spa. It's offers massages, facials, hydrotherapy, a barbershop, and juice bar. There is also a shop where you can indulge in a variety of natural products. Perfect for a bit of pampering if you're into that. I had gone to the gym, which was pretty big. You will find all of the high end pieces of gym equiptment, and machines that you'll need for a great workout. They provide you with water bottles, fresh towels, delicious juices, and bananas post workout.
The Restaurants
Now, food. They've got a bunch of restaurants, from fancy to casual. You won't be hungry, that's for sure. We hit the buffet a couple of times which served a mix of your usual breakfast foods. There was a great omelette station, charcuterie, fresh fruits, juices, coffee, tea, oatmeal, you name it!!
Lunch and dinner obviously had different foods. You may eat outside as well at any of the poolside snack areas. You will find food all day here. There is 24 room service if that's your thing, especially after some late night festivities.
Golf
Oh, and if you're into golf, there's a course by Jack Nicklaus. Pretty fancy, right? We didn't go golfing because we don't golf, but it was very well landscaped for the avid golphers!
The Beach
But the beach is the real deal. It's private, so you can just do your beach thing without the crowds. There were an abundance of beach chairs, and lounge couches on the beach. The sand was probably the softest I've ever felt! and pure white! Moon Palace The Grand is more than a resort – it's a whole vibe. Can't wait for you to check it out!
The Waterpark
The Colorful waterpark is right on-site, so you can seamlessly transition from poolside relaxation to exciting aquatic adventures. Ride on the lazy river, or hit the fun waterslides! The waterpark also has a really fun wave pool, baby and toddler spray park, and surf simulator! Look out for a shop there with some pool extras like SPF, pool floats, and souvenirs. all inclusive mexico family vacations
The guys had the most amazing day at Selvatica Adventure Park! At the resort you can get lots of information on fun things to do around Cancun. The guys wanted to do something for a few hours. My husband set up the excursion with the hotel, it was an easy booking. They were excited! They got picked up at Moon Palace The Grand at 8am.
There were about 20 awesome people ready for adventure as well.
The ride was a quick 40 minutes from the hotel. They kicked off with some epic zip-lining – soaring through the jungle like Tarzan! Then, they took a refreshing dip in a cenote. For those wondering, a cenote is a natural sinkhole filled with crystal-clear water. It was like swimming in paradise!
The real highlight? Driving ATVs through the mud – pure, father son fun! Splashing around and embracing the adventure! At Selvatica, they have different packages to choose from, however the guys did a half day adventure. It was more then enough to spend quality time, and enjoy the sites!
