I've got to share this awesome adventure with you. So, picture this: my amazing husband surprised me with an overnight stay at the Christmas Story House in Cleveland, Ohio! 🎄 Can you believe it? I've been a fan of that movie since I was a kid, and it was like stepping into a holiday dream come true. Taking our son to one of my childhood memories even better!
We went in June, the weekend of my birthday. It was a short flight from New York to Cleveland Ohio. We were so excited, especially me. My husband had planned it so we stayed in 3 different hotels. Of course the main event was A Christmas Story House!! While there we wanted to explore Cleveland and see what it had to offer. We found some nice parts for sure!
We kicked off our festive escapade by exploring the Christmas Story Museum – talk about a blast from the past! I mean A Christmas Story leg lamp, the Red Ryder BB Gun, everything was there!! Then, we strolled down Cleveland's main street, indulging in some seriously delicious eats and taking in all the charming sights. The combination of festive vibes, mouthwatering food, and the company of my favorite people made it a night to remember.
After strolling down the streets of Ohio, we got to check in to the house for our overnight stay. The house also offers special tours until 4pm to the public, then it's all yours. I was standing there in awe. I was picturing every scene in the movie. We walked all around the house and took so many pictures. I was a kid again. I stood in the living room and walked over to the tree, my eyes then glazed over to the leg lamp right in the window. Let's not forget about the big radio Ralphie and Randy listened to little orphan Annie on! There was so much to see just in the front room. The kitchen was small but quaint. We took pictures under the kitchen cabinet where Randy had his milk. Heading upstairs right on the hallway wall, you'll see the phone where Ralphie's mother made that frantic phone call to Flick's mother! You even hear her on the phone, it was really funny. Next we headed towards the bathroom where Ralphie's mouth got wash with Lifebuoy soap! Remember 'Oh Fuuudge' I even took a funny picture with my son reenacting that scene! Next was Ralphie and Randy's bedroom, which was very sweet. It was spacious and full of memorable replicas like Randy's zeppelin.
Of course the famous theme project that Ralphie had to write was there on his bedroom desk. The real one is in the museum across the street.
So many cool items to look at while you imagine the movie going through your mind.
The loft area, was actually on the left side of the house with a separate entrance. However you can sleep anywhere you like, the house is yours!
The loft had a bedroom, living area with a couch bed, a bathroom, and every Christmas movie you can imagine. We actually watch A Christmas Story that night while in the house, a truly surreal moment! My heart was full.
It's these kinds of spontaneous, joyful moments that make life truly special, don't you think? If you ever find yourself in Cleveland, the Christmas Story House is an absolute must-visit.
